Used Volvo XC60 vs Used Audi Q5 quick comparison

There are plenty of options on the market if you're looking for a pre-owned luxury sport utility vehicle, especially models from the past four or five years. In the last couple of years, the compact SUV segment has really expanded and two particular models have been at the center of this expansion: the Audi Q5 and the Volvo XC60. There is a good chance you have a pre-owned Volvo XC60 or a used Audi Q5 on your shopping list if you are looking for a used SUV. Here, we compare pre-owned SUV options based on their versatility, performance, reliability, dependability, and efficiency. For the purposes of this comparison, we look at 2019 versions of each luxury SUV.

When we compare the horsepower and torque numbers of a used Volvo XC60 and a used Audi Q5, we find that the Volvo XC60 offers slightly more performance. A 2.0-liter turbocharged and supercharged four-cylinder engine in the XC60 produces 316 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, while the Q5 in most pre-owned models will deliver 248 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. On the road, you'll notice a subtle difference. With the XC60, you get ample performance for a compact SUV without sacrificing fuel efficiency.

If you opt for a pre-owned Volvo XC60, you will achieve an average fuel consumption rating of 11.8 L per 100 km in the city, and 8.6 L per 100 km on the highway. A used Audi Q5 also has decent efficiency, but it does require more fuel with an average fuel consumption rating of 8.7 L per 100 km on the highway. City fuel economy is about the same. The fact that the XC60 has better fuel consumption than the Q5 is even more interesting given the fact that it has significantly more power.

Another important element to compare when looking at to pre-owned SUVs like the Volvo XC60 and the Audi Q5 is interior space. Now both the XC60 and the Q5 have a lot to offer in this area, but the Volvo has the slight advantage with an overall cargo capacity rating of 1,792 litres. The Q5, on the other hand, has about 100 L less. In other words, if versatility is important criteria for you, we can tell you that the Volvo XC60 gives you not just a bit more cargo space, but also more interior space for your family or passengers as well.
