Preparation for Winter Driving with Your Volvo

Here in Canada, winter driving can be quite a challenge. From snow and ice to slush and murky roads, your Volvo will face all kinds of wear and tear over the winter months—but that doesn’t have to be the case. Here are a few ways you can protect your Volvo this winter so that it stays in top shape until spring arrives.

Paint Protection Film (PPF)

One of the best ways to protect your Volvo during winter is through paint protection film (PPF). PPF helps protect against scratches, chips, stains, and sun damage. The film is applied directly to the surface of your vehicle, creating an invisible layer of protection that guards against corrosion due to road salt and other environmental factors.

Mudguards

Another great way to keep your Volvo looking pristine is by installing mudguards. Mudguards provide extra protection from dirt, mud, rocks, and other debris that get kicked up from the road. This can help reduce the amount of dirt and grime that accumulates on your car’s body over time. Plus, mudguards look pretty cool too!

Wash Your Car Regularly

It’s important to wash your car regularly during winter months—especially if you plan on driving in areas where road salt is used extensively. Road salt accelerates oxidation which can cause rust spots on your car’s bodywork over time. Make sure you use a gentle detergent specifically designed for cars when washing your vehicle to avoid damaging any of its components or surfaces.

Winter Mats and Cargo Protectors

You should also invest in some quality floor mats and cargo protectors for added protection inside your cabin during inclement weather conditions. Winter mats are specifically designed with deep channels to capture snow, slush, mud, water—you name it!—and come in handy when you encounter wet or snowy conditions while driving. Cargo protectors are also great for protecting the interior from spills and stains caused by wet boots or other items stored inside the car during the coldest months of the year.
