Key Differences Between the New Volvo S60 Recharge and the Previous Model

The Volvo S60 is the perfect sedan for drivers and families who want to get the most out of the drive, without compromising on style and driving dynamics. It features unique Scandinavian styling and safety equipment that no other luxury automaker offers.

In the Recharge model, the S60 strikes the best balance between power and efficiency. It uses electrification to produce segment-exclusive levels of performances, while allowing drivers to drive long distances without using fuel.

This year, Volvo has improved its T8 Recharge plug-in hybrid powertrain for many models including the S60 Recharge wagon, giving it more power, increased efficiency and improved driveability.

Here’s an overview of the differences between the new Volvo S60 Recharge and the previous model.

The 2022 Volvo S60 gets better all-electric range and unique technologies

All-electric range is important in a PHEV. It lets drivers conduct their daily driving without having to stop at the pump. The new 18.8 kWh battery gives the S60 Recharge 64 kilometres of all-electric range. This is a significant improvement from the 35-kilometre rating of the outgoing model, which was equipped with an 11.6 kWh unit.

The new battery also comes in handy in the winter and in the summer. Owners can now pre-heat or pre-cool the cabin remotely via the Volvo Cars app, even when the car is not plugged in.

Later this year, the 2022 Volvo S60 Recharge will also be available with the one-pedal drive feature. This will allow drivers to control acceleration and deceleration using only the accelerator pedal.

The 2022 Volvo S60 Recharge is much more powerful

The T8 powertrain under the hood of the 2022 Volvo S60 Recharge gets a few upgrades. It now pairs with a more powerful rear electric motor that delivers 143 hp, a significant upgrade from the outgoing unit which was rated at 87 hp. The 2022 Volvo S60 Recharge now boasts a combined output rating of 455 horsepower!

This new motor makes the S60 Recharge more competent during spirited drives on curvy roads, but it also increases all-wheel drive capability at low speeds, when towing, or when driving on slippery roads in the winter.
