Here's a look at the 2023 Volvo XC40

The 2023 Volvo XC40 receives some significant changes to its design and mechanicals in order to remain one of the most attractive options in the premium subcompact SUV segment.

The mild hybrid powertrains

In addition to being offered as a fully electric model (XC40 Recharge), the 2023 Volvo XC40 becomes the last Volvo model to be offered only with electrified powertrains. This means that both the standard T4 and the available T5 powertrains of the 2022 model have received a 48-volt mild hybrid system. This technology helps reduce the fuel consumption and the emissions generated by the vehicle while also making it more powerful. Indeed, the new standard powertrain, called B4, received a boost of 10 horsepower in order to reach 197 while the optional B5 powertrain has an output of 250 horsepower, which is two more than the previous T5.

The exterior style

The 2023 Volvo XC40 adopts a modernized style that makes it look more in line with the fully electric XC40 Recharge. This new appearance is granted by the revised Pixel LED headlamps, the reworked bumpers, and the new wheel designs. In addition, the front grille is slightly modified and more angular, which makes it look more distinctive. The youthful appearance of the XC40 can also be enhanced by the new paint colours, which include Fjord Blue and Sage Green, two hues that were previously reserved for the XC40 Recharge and the C40 Recharge.

The Android Automotive infotainment system

As with every other Volvo model, the new refresh of the XC40 includes a new infotainment system. In place of the previous Sensus technology, the 2023 Volvo XC40 is equipped with the Android Automotive infotainment system developed by Google. This system has found its way in all of the Volvo models over the last three model years and now it is the XC40’s turn to benefit from it. This advanced system integrates a number of popular apps such as Google Maps, the Google Play Store, or the Google Assistant in order to offer an improved level of connectivity and convenience.
