Here is what you need to know about the new Volvo C40 Recharge
February 20 2022,
The new Volvo C40 Recharge is a coupe-like electric compact SUV that is modern, stylish and efficient.
A commitment to sustainability
The new Volvo C40 Recharge is the second all-electric Volvo and the first to only be offered with an electric drivetrain. As such, it takes on the role of sustainability ambassador for the Volvo brand. The C40 Recharge is powered by two electric motors that deliver a combined output of 402 horsepower through all four wheels and a 78-kWh battery pack that can last for up to 360 kilometers on a single charge. When it is depleted down to 10%, only 33 minutes are needed to charge the battery back to 80% using a DC fast charger. In addition to this zero-emission powertrain, the C40 Recharge is the first Volvo to be devoid of leather, in a bid to promote more sustainable materials and lessen the dependency on the cattle industry. To replace leather, Volvo developed a new seat material called Nordico, which is made from recycled plastic bottles.
An SUV that will turn heads
The new Volvo C40 Recharge is a stylish compact SUV that features a coupe-like profile due to its sloping roofline that ends in a discreet spoiler on the liftgate. This distinctive appearance makes it instantly recognisable due to its blend of new design elements and traditional Volvo styling touches, such as the Thor’s hammer headlamps, the characteristic diagonal line across the front fascia and the distinctive taillamps that share their general shape with most Volvo wagons and SUVs of the past 20 years. In addition to its elegant and recognisable appearance, the shape of the C40 Recharge has the added bonus of being more aerodynamic than a regular SUV, which helps it be more efficient and offer a longer range than it could have done if its style had been more traditional.
